the story of

jebus

made by coley and a revel community.

In 2022, Coley arrived in Gulfport, Florida half dead from a severe case of Covid-19 that led to his father's death and nearly killed him causing brain encephalitis, double pneumonia, and severe neck stenosis that required neck surgery.

Coley, who hadn’t prayed since Bible study as a kid (he’s more of a meditation guy), told God: “I’ve lived a good life. You can take me now. But if I stick around, I’ll spend the rest of it doing something that actually matters.” Classic Philadelphian, negotiating with the divine.

while recovering in the Gulfport condo his WWII-veteran Pop Pop bought for $40K (note: housing needs to be way cheaper if America wants to survive), the first draft of Jebus arrived like a fever dream slash shamanic download.

What happened next was somehow weirder than the movie itself…

an edgy, purpose-driven movie like Jebus would never get bankrolled by a major studio budget. it's too "risky” and it isn’t the 8th sequel of a super hero movie. which is ironic cause Jesus was our OG superhero.

this movie doesn’t satirize religion, it satirizes the hypocrisy of religious radicals not following their own poetry. religion is supposed to unite, not divide. choose love over hate.

so we made this movie ourselves.

the entire town collaborated to make Jebus, and shares in the ownership of the film. The cast and crew consisted of over 100 people of nearly every race, religion, political group, and economic status imaginable.

Coley kept 51% for writing, directing, executive producing, financing, starring in five roles, and scoring the soundtrack (his 15th album, by the way), the other 49% was split with the Revel Community cast, crew, and investors.

Coley was born in Valley Forge area of greater Philadelphia where America was born and wants to remind us that what makes us American is not our race or religion, it's our values, free thinking, freedom, patriotism and love of whatever God we want.

who knows, he's a doofus trying his best like the rest of us and could not have done any of this without his amazing friends & family.

JEBUS

stream in 4K - 5:1 surround sound - lifetime access

$33

per viewer

we’re going off the honor system here.

movies are expensive as fuck to make and Jebus is a co-op where the cast & crew gets a percent of the profits for life. if each person you’re watching it with can’t throw in $33, just buy one ticket.

if you don’t have $33, just steal it, we don’t mind. After all, Jesus flipped tables in the marketplace (they tend to forget that part).

we believe everyone needs to see this movie. that being said, art needs be profitable enough for artists to survive, otherwise there’d be no art and we’d all be doing spreadsheets forever.

things you
might be
wondering

  • no. what you'll find when you watch the movie is that it's very honoring of Jesus and his message.

the trailer can sometimes put people off, but we’re not here to make fun of religion. that’s not going to move the world forward.

what we’re mocking is politics and people that use christian messaging to support things that Jesus wouldn’t be about. Jesus would not come back and want AK-47’s on a christmas cards, he would've hung out with the weirdos and he would've accepted everybody, and he certainly wouldn’t shipped them outta here.

Jebus just thinks this modern world got his message wrong. his message was simply, “love everybody”.

  • because then we have to follow their rules. and when that happens, indie productions always get shit deals.

major streamers don’t tell us anything about anyone that watches our movie. ao analytics, no marketing data, no opportunity to stay in touch and have a dialogue with our audience.

you (the viewer) are only able to watch it as long as you’re subscribed to their platform and giving them money every month.

we get paid pennies for each watch after they take their cut for putting the movie in their marketplaces, even though 99% of the time we have to do the grunt work to market the film and get people like you to take the time and consider watching this.

so instead of that, we built this ourselves to bring it to you directly, and we’re giving you access to the movie forever.

we’re going to continue to grow an audience and slang Jebus until we can take it to the fat cats and get a licensing deal where they pay us for the right to show it to their audience. then we set the terms.

after that initial licensing period is over, they’ll pay us again. and again. and again in perpetuity. and each time, our co-op gets a nice check in the mail. that’s how we start to redistribute wealth.

this is a Revelution to a cinema ecosystem that has become controlled by a few major players at the top and snuffs out innovation. our Communityist model puts profits back in the hands of those that spilled creative blood, sweat, and tears to bring this movie to life - not the rich that bankroll major movies and get profits in perpetuity while everyone else just gets a day rate.

  • nah.

whether you’re a dem or republican, we recommend you smoke a J and find someone of the opposite party and watch a movie with 'em to laugh and get over our issues.

we want to help America find some common ground through laughter and encourage dialogue, not provide a prescription.

  • after my experience making this movie, absolutely. i think God is this quantum, universal love type thing that none of us can comprehend. i think we need to get to having a realer conversation about god that fits the times and get out of the dogma.

currently half the country thinks “let's go back to following a 2000 year old book where there wasn't AI, drones, and we had goats”. and then the other half is like, “let's do molly and nothing's real.” and neither of those are good.

let’s get to a better idea of God.

i'm not here to push it on anybody, but i hope making Jebus sparks some real discussion about God in a modern way.

  • incredibly loosely.

but that’s the point. we’re trying to move away from a dogmatic view of religion and uniting everyone around Jebus’s simple message of “love everybody”.

  • you sure can!
